Rugby League is the perfect team sport. It is fast, unique, exciting is played by physically and mentally powerful athletes. Rugby League requires players who are physically fit, possess flair, mental agility and courage. The game is known for it’s high levels of skill and extreme speed.
The aim of the game
The goal of the game is to score more points than the opposing team during an 80 minute period (2×40 minutes).
Each team of 13 players must try, to place the the oval ball into the opposing teams in-goal area. The ball cannot be passed forwards. Territory can only be gained by running with the ball or kicking the ball. Re done mostly obliquely passes, running for a vacant position.
A team can score points through Tries, Conversion kicks, penalty kicks and drop goals (field kicks).
The most points are scored through a try, 4 points. A Try is awarded by placing the ball, by hand, on the ground behind the opposing team’s TRY-LINE.
A team that is awarded a Try is then permitted to kick for GOAL to obtain a further 2 points. This is called a conversion and converts the try into a goal. The ball must be kicked between the two goalposts and over the cross bar.
A Drop Goal is worth one point. To score a Drop Goal the player must kick the ball between the posts and over the cross bar. This must be done in open play and the ball must bounce on the floor before being kicked.
Penalty kick
Penalty kicks are awarded for foul play by the opposing team. The ball must be kicked between the goal posts and over the crossbar from a “place kick” at a spot identified by the referee. The ball sits on a tee on the ground before being kicked.
The art
The art of the game is against the 13 opposing players (+ 4 on the bench. Multiple entry and substitutions are possible) and to the ball on the TRY-LINE to get. Here you can of the enemy by keeping a low [Tackle] stop.
A low Hold [Tackle] means always the clash of physical force. Here, the adversary is trying to wrestle to the ground and the attack or the ball to “grab”.
The defending team will do their best to the attack to interrupt or off.
The attacking team has SIX Tackle time the attack underway (or seven if you run the ball from an opponent’s error gets).
After the unsuccessful attempt of the ball within six Tackle in the TRY-LINE of the opponent to get the ball to the other – in the subsequent period attacking team – will be handed over.
Mostly, however, if foreseeable that in the last attempt not TRY LINE of the enemy can be achieved, the ball before the sixth tackle as deeply as possible into the generic half kicked much as possible into the space of their own kicked away DEFENSIVE LINE .
After Tackle …
Defenders have to ten meters back back to the ten-meter line. Except the possession of the ball player and the host player (Dummy Half, Acting-Half) of the attacking team and two players from the defending team.
The attacking team plays the ball through a PLAY-THE-BALL (through the possession of the ball players) in the correct way to the host players.
Infringements (whether by attacking or defending team) are from time to time by the referee by PENALTIES punished.
Scrum (scrum)
What are SCRUM and when they take place? If a player makes a pass can not clean and the ball forward (important!) Is rolling, then it is time for a SCRUM (arranged scrum).
Six players per team are bent arm in arm in a row and try Wegschieben by the team at the ball to come, then through the crowd [Scrum] durchrollt and a player behind the series begins.
